Student Bios

Monica Geraffo (Education Coordinator and Exhibition Historian) received her B.A. in Screen Arts and Cultures from the University of Michigan. She has held internships with the Historic Trades division of Colonial Williamsburg, The Valentine, Merchant’s House Museum, and works alongside FIDM Museum and Galleries in Los Angeles to install their Art of Costume Design exhibitions.

Brigid Gerstenecker (Lead Researcher and Display Advisor) received her B.A. in Art History & Criticism from Webster University. She previously served as the Curatorial Assistant to the Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Programs/Chief Curator of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. She is currently interning for the archive of Hamish Bowles.

Megan Gillen (Writer and Editor) received her B.S. in English with minors in Art History and Gender Studies from SUNY Oneonta. She recently interned at the New York State Museum, where she worked on the City of Neighborhoods permanent exhibition by contributing research on and dressing garments from the 1920s.

Andrea Moreno (Media Manager) received her B.A in Art History and Visual Culture from Denison University. She earned a M.A in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and previously curated fiber arts and photography exhibitions. Andrea is currently interning for the archive of Bert Stern.

Anna Muller (Project Manager) received her B.A. in Anthropology from SUNY Cortland. She held an internship at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine conserving and installing an 18th-century tapestry.

Avery Novitch (Writer and Diversity Advisor) received her B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Dance from Union College. She has held internships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Costume Institute and Editorial Department, the Merchant’s House Museum, and the Ukrainian Museum.

Callie O’Connor (Content Advisor) is a textile conservator at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. She received her B.A. in Public History at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She has held internships in conservation at the Museum at FIT, the Cooper Hewitt, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

Chelsea Payne (Public Program Manager) received her B.S. in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and is an archivist for the Estee Lauder Companies where she has worked since 2008. As a beauty historian, Chelsea is also a freelance hair and makeup artist specializing in historical techniques.

Rachel Potter (Exhibition Designer) received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. She has held internships at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and the fashion archive of Hamish Bowles. She formerly worked in the luxury accessories division of an auction house.

Emily Nissen (Design Coordinator and Educational Programming) received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Beloit College, along with being the manager of the Beloit College Historical Costume Collection. She most recently interned as an archivist at the Queens Museum.

Jessica Sachs (Research Manager and Registrar) received her B.A. in Fashion and Textile Studies from Queens College, CUNY. She has held collections management internships at the Queens College Costume Collection, FIDM Museum and Galleries, Robert and Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and PVH Corp. Archive.

Kathryn Smith (Graphic Designer and Conservation Advisor) received her B.A. in Visual Studies from Temple University Tyler School of Art. She has held internships at St. Hubert’s Chapel and the Rubin Museum of Art.
