Join us for a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution. The film recounts the 1973 “Battle of Versailles” fashion face-off between American and French designers at Chateau de Versailles that catapulted African American models onto the European stage and made a name for American designers overseas.

Paris, Capital of Fashion will be The Museum at FIT’s 22nd academic symposium. The one-day event will explore what it means for a city to be deemed a “fashion capital” and why Paris is generally considered the most prestigious and competitive fashion capital in the world.

Speakers will include Miren Arzalluz, director, the Palais Galliera, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris; Christopher Breward, director of collection and research, National Galleries of Scotland; Nancy L.
