Graphic Design

The stylized red line running along the gallery’s left wall was inspired by Eleanor Lambert’s favorite lipstick, Revlon Cherries in the Snow.

Creating a graphic “look” for this exhibition required devising an overall identity that would accurately represent Eleanor Lambert and her legendary career. We found inspiration in Eleanor Lambert’s stationery through her professional and personal correspondence, her preferred Revlon and Estée Lauder lipstick colors, and anecdotes about her life. These ideas carried through into our graphic identity, including choices of font, wall graphics, and printed media, which we developed in collaboration with the 3D Design team. For instance, drawing from an often-repeated story about Lambert getting a blue star tattoo on her ankle during a wild night out with her friend Dorothy Parker, we turned this motif into a dingbat to punctuate our gallery texts.
