Sequined evening dress by Geoffrey Beene, Fall 1967

Geoffrey Beene elevated the look of an inexpensive sports jersey through the addition of sequins and a floor-length hem. This playful black-and-white design from 1967 may reference the New Orleans Saints–the home team of the designer’s native Louisiana, which joined the NFL that year.

Long sleeve, floor length, fully sequined evening gown made in style of sports jersey with the number 38 at front and 2 black bands on upper sleeves.
